Guildford Plaza, Guildford
SUMMARY
Burymead House was an outdated 1960’s building occupied by our client National Grid Transco. We advised on the acquistion of the freehold, the demolition of the existing building to provide a cleared site and the granting of planning permission for a new 82,000 sq ft air conditioned office building prior to a successful sale of the site.
HISTORY
Whilst John was acting as a non executive director of NGC Properties Limited, part of National Grid, now National Grid Transco, he was asked to advise on the redevelopment potential of Burymead House, Portsmouth Road Guildford. This outdated 1960s building was formerly occupied by National Grid.
A scheme for a new and exciting 82,000 sq ft net office building, designed around a central atrium and named Guildford Plaza, was created using architects Crouch Butler and RHWL and a detailed planning permission obtained.
The existing building was demolished and the site sold with the benefit of the new planning permission.
